Dan Pena has walked the earth for over 70 years, and in this time, he’s accomplished tons through his sheer willpower. For example, he’s the chairman and founder of The Guthrie Group (TGG). He’s also the founder and former chairman, president, and CEO of Great Western Resources Inc.

In addition, he’s taken that initial $820 and grew it to $450 million in a time where energy prices were diving. He accomplished this in just 8 years, which just goes to show that when Pena puts his mind to something, he achieves it.

Pena is a firm believer that in order to be successful, visualisation and affirmation are key.

For example, he encourages people to go sit in expensive cars at dealerships, have occasional meals at Michelin Star restaurants, and buy some expensive clothes. He believes everyone should do that, even if they have to scrimp and save to achieve this.

The point of this exercise is to get so used to the smell and taste of success that by the time you’ve arrived at it, it’s familiar. Not only that, but it puts you in the right mind frame to meet the right people.
