From Wired founding executive editor Kevin Kelly and O’Reilly Media founder Tim O’Reilly to former International Space Station commander Chris Hadfield, Life After Google author George Gilder, former Google X Chief Business Officer Mo Gawdat, SingularityNET founder Dr Ben Goertzel and 10T Holdings founder Dan Tapiero: where technology is taking us.

Futurists: how technology changes what it means to be human

Kevin Kelly remembers co-founding Wired, talks about the technologies he sees as inevitable and explains why we need to teach AI ethics. Tim O’Reilly, one of the most influential thinkers of the internet age, shares his view of where technology, work and the economy are heading. Douglas Rushkoff, a professor of media theory, argues for keeping people at the centre of a digital world. Zoltan Istvan explains the transhumanist case for using science to go beyond human limits, and Jacque Fresco described how The Venus Project would replace money with a resource-based economy.

AI and the singularity

Artificial intelligence runs through many of these conversations. Mo Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer of Google X, explains in Scary Smart how ordinary people can shape the way AI develops. Dr Ben Goertzel argues that AI is our greatest hope, saying humanity is more likely to destroy itself than be destroyed by machines. Professor Hugo de Garis takes the opposite view and warns of godlike machines. George Gilder looks at life after Google and how the singularity and cryptocurrency could redefine humanity, and Janet Adams of SingularityNET explains its neural-symbolic approach to AI.

Space, robotics and the money behind new technology

Astronaut Chris Hadfield shares what he learned in space and the perspective it gave him on science and creativity. NASA robotics researcher Dr Vytas SunSpiral explains why studying animals helps him build better robots. On the investment side, Jeff Brown of Brownstone Research looks at AI, quantum computing and CRISPR gene editing, and Dan Tapiero returns for his fourth live appearance to discuss his track record and his next fund. Ethical hacker David Carvalho, CEO of Naoris Protocol, argues that cybersecurity must become decentralised and ready for quantum computers.
