From Harvard geneticist Dr David Sinclair and biomedical gerontologist Aubrey de Grey to XPRIZE founder Peter Diamandis, the Iceman Wim Hof, Flow Research Collective founder Steven Kotler and strength and conditioning coach Steve Maxwell: the science of ageing and the habits of people who refuse to slow down.

The science: can ageing be slowed or reversed?

Dr David Sinclair, a biologist known for his research on ageing and epigenetics, explains the ideas behind his book Lifespan and why he argues that ageing is not something we simply have to accept. Aubrey de Grey goes further: back in 2015 he told Brian Rose that he sees ageing as a disease, one he believes can be cured with the right medicine. Ten years later Peter Diamandis argues that AI, gene therapy and other fast-moving technologies are driving a trillion-dollar race to end ageing, and explains longevity escape velocity, the point at which he says science adds more than a year of healthy life for every year that passes.

Living it: training, breath and staying active

Other guests focus on what you do every day. Wim Hof sets out the latest science he cites behind his breathing and cold exposure method, and how he says it affects inflammation, stress and resilience. Steve Maxwell, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who has coached elite athletes for decades, first came on the show aged 61 and returned ten years later to share his blueprint for strength and happiness in later life. Steven Kotler, a New York Times bestselling author, makes the case in Gnar Country that growing older does not have to mean slowing down or giving up on learning hard new skills.
