Economist & Former Advisor To The Pentagon and CIA

James G. Rickards, widely known as Jim Rickards, has carved a niche for himself in the world of finance and economics. An economist, investment banker, and lawyer, Rickards is best known for his provocative insights into global financial markets and his predictions regarding economic crises. With a career spanning several decades, Rickards has become a prominent voice in the discourse on monetary policy, financial crises, and strategic economic forecasting.

Since his last prophetic appearance on London Real, the world has turned.

As he presciently predicted, the Democrats have a new presidential candidate. Trump is now ahead in the polls. And across the wider world, the geo-political landscape continues to shift.

Which is why I for one can’t wait to welcome Jim Rickards back to London Real. In what will be his tenth appearance, I’m looking forward to Jim going deep into what we can expect in the future, why the current US elections are likely to shape our lives for decades to come and what’s next in these worrying times.

Born on November 1, 1949, Jim Rickards studied at Johns Hopkins University before obtaining his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a Master of Laws in taxation from the New York University School of Law. His diverse educational background laid a solid foundation for his multifaceted career in law, finance, and economics.

Rickards’ career began in the legal field, where he worked on Wall Street as a lawyer for investment banks. His expertise in legal matters related to finance naturally transitioned him into roles that involved strategic financial consulting and risk management. He has advised numerous clients, including hedge funds and government agencies, on financial and geopolitical issues.

One of Jim Rickards’ most notable achievements is his prediction of the 2008 financial crisis. In his book “The Death of Money: The Coming Collapse of the International Monetary System,” Rickards outlines his theories on the vulnerabilities in the global financial system. He argues that excessive debt, flawed monetary policies, and systemic risk factors are likely to lead to significant economic downturns.

Rickards’ book “Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis” introduces the concept of currency wars, where countries engage in competitive devaluations of their currencies to gain economic advantages. He suggests that such practices lead to instability and could trigger a global financial crisis. According to Rickards, these currency manipulations undermine the stability of the international monetary system and lead to economic conflicts between nations.

Rickards’ expertise extends beyond economics and finance to include strategic intelligence and geopolitical analysis. He has worked with the U.S. Department of Defense, the CIA, and other government agencies to conduct financial war games and develop strategies to counteract economic threats. His insights into the intersection of economics and national security have made him a valuable advisor in matters of economic policy and strategic planning.

In recent years, Jim Rickards has continued to publish books and articles that challenge conventional economic wisdom. His works, such as “The Road to Ruin: The Global Elites’ Secret Plan for the Next Financial Crisis,” provide in-depth analysis and predictions about future economic challenges, as well as his most recent publication, “MoneyGPT: AI and the Threat to the Global Economy” which is being released in paperback later this year.

As a leading thinker in the fields of finance and economics, Jim Rickards’ predictions, theories, and advocacy for systemic change have influenced policymakers, investors, and academics alike. By highlighting the vulnerabilities in the global financial system and advocating for a return to sound monetary principles, Rickards continues to shape the discourse on the future of global economics… I can’t wait for Friday!
