James Aspey is a passionate vegan activist, speaker, and public figure who has dedicated his life to advocating for the voiceless inhabitants of our planet.
From Sydney, Australia, at the age of only 17 he was diagnosed with leukaemia and was told he had six weeks to live. He beat cancer after three years of chemotherapy and during that time he began partying and abusing drugs.
He turned his life around once again and became a passionate personal trainer so he could help others with their health.
His journey changed direction when he met a wise Indian man who told him eating animals is bad karma. He went vegetarian for a seven day experiment and felt surprisingly great.
Having researched the health benefits, James Aspey realised how much he has been missing out. Upon more investigation, he discovered the shocking and violent truth of what is being done to animals for food, clothing, entertainment and medical testing.
It led him to the question, “if we don’t need to kill and eat animals to be healthy, what are we doing this for?”
The best justifications he could find or hear were incredibly weak.
In 2015, Aspey embarked on a powerful and symbolic journey known as the “Voiceless365” campaign. For an entire year, he took a vow of silence to raise awareness about the plight of animals and the cruelty inherent in industries such as factory farming. His silence became a potent statement, drawing attention to the voicelessness of animals and the urgency of addressing their suffering.
Following the conclusion of the Voiceless365 campaign, James Aspey embraced a role as an outspoken and influential advocate for veganism. He began travelling extensively, delivering talks, participating in interviews, and engaging with diverse audiences to spread awareness about the ethical, environmental, and health implications of animal agriculture.
Aspey’s approach to vegan activism involves engaging in conversations rather than confrontation. He has participated in numerous debates and discussions with individuals who hold opposing views, aiming to foster understanding and empathy rather than hostility. Aspey’s calm and rational demeanour has contributed to creating an open space for dialogue around veganism and its associated concerns.
In addition to his vocal advocacy, James Aspey launched “The Kindness Project,” a platform dedicated to promoting compassion, empathy, and positive change. Through this initiative, Aspey collaborates with various organisations and individuals to inspire kindness and create a more compassionate world.
James Aspey’s impact extends to social media, where he leverages platforms such as Instagram and YouTube to share informative content, engage with his audience, and spread the message of veganism. His captivating storytelling, coupled with his genuine passion for creating a more compassionate world, has garnered a substantial following and inspired countless individuals to reevaluate their choices.
James Aspey’s journey from a leukaemia survivor to a global vegan advocate is a testament to the transformative power of personal choices and the impact one individual can have on the world. Through his eloquent speeches, educational campaigns, and compassionate approach, Aspey has become a beacon for those seeking positive change in their lives and the world around them.
As he continues to amplify the voices of the voiceless, James Aspey stands as a compelling force for a more ethical, compassionate, and sustainable world.
