Robert Leshner - Decentralised Finance Will Change The World: It's Cheap, Fast, Reliable, Transparent & Efficient

Founder & CEO of Compound Labs

I am absolutely convinced that today’s guest is one of the most important voices you’ll hear in regards to crypto and DeFi. For regular viewers of London Real, and those that have been following our movements over the last six months this is an incredibly significant piece of the jigsaw, and for any new friends, sit back, take notes, listen and re-listen, because your life could be about to change, and get a whole lot better in the process.

As many of you know, at London Real we have pushed the boundaries recently, to bring to the fore the most significant figures in the world of cryptocurrency and decentralised finance. People like Michael Saylor, Dan Morehead, Roger Ver and many more, who are playing their part in what I call “the greatest dislocation of wealth in human history”.

DeFi is revolutionising the world of finance, and if you haven’t worked that out, you need to pay very close attention to the interviews and information we are providing. One man at the very forefront of this transformation is Robert Leshner. Robert is the former economist turned entrepreneur, investor and DeFi innovator who is spearheading the charge towards financial freedom for billions of people around the world.

Robert is the founder and CEO of Compound, a decentralised interest rate market that enables users to borrow an asset instantly and programmatically, using another asset as collateral. It’s a remarkable application and is responsible for creating a wave of crypto adoption and DeFi demand that has taken the world by storm in the last 18 months.

The Compound Protocol is a free and open financial infrastructure running on the Ethereum blockchain, and thanks to an innovative distribution scheme, allows users governance rights, which essentially gives power back to the people, that’s you, and the responsibility for shaping the future of our financial systems.

It seems a natural fit for Robert, innovation and technology are two things he understands only too well, and his desire to push the boundaries and encourage others to take the baton and run, are perhaps why Robert and Compound have been so successful.

Robert graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics. He has tasted success before when he founded Safe Shepherd, a privacy-focused web service that provided customers with information about how their personal data was being used, and that experience has played a part in his vision for decentralised finance.

Many people feel suspicious about the rise of cryptocurrency and DeFi, questioning its emergence, while others feel reluctant to participate, imagining regulators will sweep in and close down the show. But, Robert welcomes regulation and is serious about security. In fact, that’s exactly what makes decentralised finance so exciting, it’s transparent, efficient, predictable and as Robert puts it, the opportunity to ‘rebuild financial infrastructure to be cleaner and more autonomous and not based on human meddling.’

It’s very early days in the space, and yet there is so much happening. Trust me when I say, this is the time to get involved, to take your seat at the table. Twenty years from now, people will look back and wonder how they managed to miss this opportunity, the opportunity to shape a future financial system that is inclusive and prosperous.

This is why my team and I are going “all in” on this technology and infrastructure and plan on spending the next 10 years teaching, understanding, broadcasting, educating, investing in, profiting from and transforming this exciting new marketplace.

Robert is an expert in every sense of the word and there’s so much to digest from what he brings forth. We’ll go deep on DeFi, the blockchain, smart contracts, regulation and the future and I’m convinced that by the end you’ll be so much clearer on what decentralised finance is, what it means for you and your family, and why the world will never be the same
