The last 12 months have been an exciting time here at London Real.
I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with some of the most prominent minds in the cryptocurrency and DeFi space and re-engage with the nuances of financial infrastructure, something that was a major part of my background.
In my previous life on Wall Street, I was one of the pioneers of trading complex derivative financial instruments that would go on to revolutionise finance and at the time I believed it was a once-in-a-generation experience. That was until I looked at what was happening in the world of Decentralised Finance.
It is remarkable the speed at which this sector is growing and there’s an opportunity to shape the world in a more inclusive and positive way, something that can benefit billions of people.
It is a theme that connects each and every interview I have conducted this past year – the people I am meeting are changing the world around us and believe steadfastly in the potential that cryptocurrency is for everyone.
Today’s guest is no exception. Recognised as one of the most passionate voices in the cryptosphere, Jimmy Song is a Bitcoin developer, educator, entrepreneur, investor and author whose maximalist tendencies make for a very convincing case for the rise and rise of Bitcoin.
Jimmy is one of those rare figures who has been involved in Bitcoin going back over a decade… Someone who in the very early days was able to zoom out and look at the bigger picture of this groundbreaking technology, envisaging the impact it could have on society at large. And as with all those who took a deep dive down the Bitcoin rabbit hole back then, it has become his life’s work.
Jimmy has worked as a software developer and engineer for a wide range of companies in different fields including entertainment, healthcare and e-commerce. He spent time at Monetas where he led the development of Bitcoin integration with open transactions, he helped develop a Bitcoin wallet for Armory Technologies and became the Principal Architect for Paxos creating blockchain solutions for institutional entities.
Later, Jimmy joined Blockchain Capital as a Venture Partner, spending over three years as a lecturer at the University of Texas while also finding time to run Programming Blockchain, a company that trains students all around the world in blockchain programming and development techniques.
On top of all this, Jimmy has found the time to author four books with great success, and it is this that probably represents his greatest achievement to date – spreading the important message about how the world of money really works and what Bitcoin can do to solve these seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Jimmy is determined to teach as many people as possible about the virtues of Bitcoin when compared to the immoral nature of Fiat money and the highly corrupt practices that accompany the everyday currency we take for granted.
Jimmy offers historical context, real world examples, and a genuine concern for the future of society. He questions the deceptive tactics employed by the financial institutions and government alike to maintain a status quo – that punishes the many while financially furnishing the few.
He is an intelligent and inspiring figure who I’m sure you’ll agree brings a wealth of knowledge to the game.
