1:11 Jason Silva: and um, I tell them not to feel intimidated and Not to feel not to compare themselves to anybody else I think I had to invent my own thing in the world to protect myself against the demon of Ego and comparison and envy, you know It’s like do not compare yourself to others for you will become vain and bitter and and I’m you know I’m no saint, you know, I can’t I haven’t transcended that but I know I’m self-aware enough to know that Well, if I don’t put myself in that situation, it won’t happen I don’t try to be an actor or try to be a film director because I’m gonna be so insecure comparing myself to the others for me I had to figure out a way of making something that there was no comparison over so that I wouldn’t have to labor over the suffering of like Judging myself against those that had come before so I often tell people like you know take the road less traveled by that Will make all the difference you know However if what you decide to do is a path that’s been carved like if you do want to be a filmmaker then go fucking Do it, but borrow from your influences, but don’t compare yourself to them
