Peter Schiff is an American stockbroker, author and financial commentator, born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1963. He founded the brokerage Euro Pacific Capital and the precious metals dealer SchiffGold, hosts The Peter Schiff Show podcast, and became widely known after warning of the 2008 financial crisis in his 2007 book Crash Proof.
Brian Rose has interviewed Schiff twice on London Real, in 2013 and 2022. They talked about his career and investing philosophy, his market predictions, the Federal Reserve and money printing, inflation, recession and the future of the US dollar.
He has long predicted high inflation and a falling dollar. Both interviews are listed below.
People Need to Wake Up (2022). His full argument on inflation, the Federal Reserve and the dollar, recorded during the 2022 cost of living crisis.
Schiff argues that the Federal Reserve’s money creation, including quantitative easing, is the main cause of rising prices. In 2022 he described printing money as a hidden form of taxation that robs savings of their purchasing power.
Speaking in August 2022, he said the US economy was already in recession and that a financial crisis worse than the one he predicted in 2008 was likely.
Schiff has long argued that investors should keep 10 to 20 per cent of their portfolios in physical precious metals as a hedge against a weakening dollar.
Across both interviews he makes the case for sound money and less government intervention in the economy, a view he has promoted since founding Euro Pacific Capital in 1996.

Twice in the London Real archive, in November 2013 and August 2022.
Schiff became widely known for warning of a US housing and financial crisis in his 2007 book Crash Proof and in TV appearances before 2008. Some of his other long-running forecasts, such as a collapse of the US dollar, have not happened so far.
Schiff believes central bank money printing will keep eroding the value of the US dollar, and he sees physical gold and silver as a store of value. He has suggested holding 10 to 20 per cent of a portfolio in precious metals.
