Andreas Antonopoulos is a British-Greek author, speaker and educator, born in London in 1972, who became one of the best-known early advocates of Bitcoin. He wrote Mastering Bitcoin, a technical guide widely used by developers, and The Internet of Money series, and has taught on the digital currency programme at the University of Nicosia.
London Real has published three episodes of Brian Rose’s conversation with Antonopoulos, released as a three-part series in July 2021. They cover how Bitcoin might grow, how problems in central banking have fuelled interest in it, and the future of cryptocurrencies and decentralised finance.
Each episode is listed below with a short summary.
Episode 1: Forecasting The Growth of Bitcoin (July 2021). The first part of the series and the natural place to begin, setting out how he thinks Bitcoin will grow.
Antonopoulos explains Bitcoin as a network and a protocol rather than just a currency, and the series opens with how he expects that network to grow.
In the second episode he links the growth of Bitcoin to what he sees as a crisis in central banking, arguing that loss of trust in traditional money has pushed people towards alternatives.
Through Mastering Bitcoin and his teaching, he has focused on helping people understand how the technology works before they invest in it, a theme of the final episode on cryptocurrencies and decentralised finance.
