London Real has been built on being a champion of Free Speech.
For the last ten years we’ve brought people from all different walks of life, often featuring people I don’t agree with to share their ideas, thoughts and opinions on a range of hot topics. Our interviews are unscripted, uncensored and unedited and the reason for this is our strongly held belief that everyone should have the right to free speech and while I might not agree with what you say, I will defend to the death your right to say it.
Another man who shares a similar set of values to myself is today’s guest, Dave Rubin. Dave is the political commentator, comedian, TV star, international speaker and free speech activist who founded and hosts the irrepressible political talk show The Rubin Report.
The Rubin Report has quickly become one of the biggest platforms for honest, open and unfiltered conversations with the world’s leading free thinkers, thought leaders, comedians, authors and anyone, who has worthwhile contributions to make to the most controversial and important topics of the day.
With over one and a half million subscribers, The Rubin Report continues to grow, all the while maintaining a steadfast belief in our right to free speech and the importance of retaining our sense of self while looking at the bigger picture.
Dave is a fascinating guy. He describes himself as a free thinking classical liberal, but his journey began somewhere in the realms of the left leaning progressive. He’s made no bones about his radical shift in thinking, and the reason why he ‘left the left’.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Binghamton University, Dave began performing stand up comedy at open mic events in New York City. This led to work as an intern on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, from which his interest in producing and presenting his own content really took hold.
After hosting a number of podcasts and online shows Dave created The Rubin Report in 2013, which later began operating as an independent channel from 2016. During this time Dave wrestled with his political beliefs, and the perceptions of such in the mainstream media only underlined his evolving perspective.
Growing tired of the politically correct ideals of the left and the online censorship of the big tech companies, Dave used his platform to go deep with a host of stellar guests from Roseanne Barr and Larry King to Nigel Farage and Jordan Peterson.
In April 2020 Dave released the New York Times bestseller ‘Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason’, which acts as a practical guide to surviving the current political turmoil engulfing the US. From the covid narrative to Trump’s impeachment and everything in between, Dave’s voice has become an honest commentary to the chaotic world we now live in.
As a gay man who has wrestled with his identity from a young age, Dave has faced many obstacles on his route to success and happiness in life, which ultimately forms the foundation of his rational and open approach to the politics and problems of the day. He’s a truly engaging man, who has lots to say and I’m sure you’ll gain so much from this conversation.
