Key ideas

Progress is exponential

Speaking in 2023, Diamandis said the world would see more progress in the decade ahead than in the whole of the past century, driven by cheaper computing, more capital and billions of newly connected people.

Three phases of AI

He describes today’s AI as broadly helpful, the next one to ten years as disruptive, with deepfakes, job losses and AI-enabled hacking, and the phase after that as superintelligence. He believes a more intelligent AI is likely to be more pro-life and pro-abundance.

The danger is human misuse

In 2025 he told Brian Rose he is less worried about artificial intelligence than about human stupidity. He sees malevolent people using AI as the main near-term risk, and AI itself as the best tool for catching them.

Healthspan and longevity escape velocity

Diamandis argues that the gap between lifespan and healthspan, which he puts at about 16 years in the US, can be narrowed. He describes longevity escape velocity as the point where science adds more than a year of life for every year you live, and believes AI is bringing it closer.

Mindset and purpose

He teaches five mindsets: purpose-driven, abundance, exponential, moonshot and longevity. He says a massive transformative purpose works as a filter for which opportunities to pursue, and that the entrepreneur is the job most likely to last in an age of AI.
