Michael Venom Page is a British mixed martial artist known for his unorthodox, hands-down striking style, which grew out of kickboxing, points fighting and sport karate. He fought for Bellator from 2013 to 2023, where he became one of its best-known stars, and joined the UFC in 2024.
Brian Rose has interviewed Page twice on London Real, in 2015 and 2019. They have talked about his martial arts roots in London, his fighting style, staying relaxed in the cage, his first professional loss and his views on the UFC.
Both interviews are listed below in order with a short summary.
The Evolution of an MMA Knockout Artist (2019). Recorded after his first loss, it is the more reflective of his two interviews. For his roots in martial arts, watch Hands Down (2015).
In 2015 Page said he sees himself as a martial artist before a fighter, and talked about the respect he learned through Lau Gar kung fu as a child.
Page brought the movement and distance control of points fighting and sport karate into MMA. He said he wanted to show that style works in the cage, and to entertain as well as win.
He described being in a calm, focused state before he even walks to the cage, and keeping a mindset of having fun, which he says lets him stay creative during a fight.
Speaking in 2019, after his knockout loss to Douglas Lima, Page talked about what the defeat taught him and why awareness and mental agility are critical in a fight.
