Chris Eubank – English

This Sunday morning, Brian steps into the ring with the one and only Christopher Livingstone Eubanks. In what is to be one of the best episodes in London Real history, we get an uncompromising portrait of the great icon and legend of British boxing.

There are no half-measures in boxing. In a sport that pushes the human body to it’s absolute peak, it’s all or nothing every day. Eubank is a man that has experienced high performance on a scale few of us could dream, on Sunday we hear the story from both inside the ring and outside it. Eubank is a gentleman, as sharp and as vivid a storyteller as there is, sharing with signature poetic eloquence a biography forged in blood, sweat and perseverance.

From poverty and trouble in school, to the top of his game his story is one of greatness. In his first 10 years as a professional boxer Eubank went undefeated. He held world titles at both Middleweight and Super Middleweight, was world champion for over 5 years. Pushing himself to the limit he has inspired thousands to put on the gloves and to step in the ring. The life lessons of a boxer, however, are just as real and relevant in any context.

Whoever you are, whatever you do this is one interview that will change you. Tune in.

Just because the Queen believes in God and on a $ bill it says “In GOD we trust” this doesn’t mean the subject is true or not entitled to alternative beliefs!

I have always admired and been a fan of Mr. Eubank from the start and after watching this interview would like to add these comments: Every so often an enlightened individual is thrust into public consciousness, a person who transcends the vehicle that was used to originally introduce them to the public domain. I believe this is because the person contains a spiritual force greater/ brighter than what is considered “normal”. Christopher Eubank is one of these rare individuals. A truly unique being, a scholar and an “English Warrior”. Like the other true great exponent of “the art” that we… Read more »

I salute Chris Eubanks’ immense sporting achievements, but there are moments in this interview where he clearly doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about. The ‘eccentricity’ of the man is being used to cover over his clear propensity to bullshit. All that being said though, a very good interview …

Very good. I also recommend English’s (Chris Eubanks) autobiography. Its one of the very few books ive read more than once. Tried Nigel Benn’s equivalent and literally had to put it down after about 30 pages, horrible self obsessed read. Interesting to hear English’s views on Carl Sagan, I’m also bit fan of the Pale Blue Dot. If more and more of us start taking on this mind set maybe we can save the planet before its too late. Cheers Brian for bringing the interview, great questions as always.

Beautiful show. Being from Canada and not following sports too much, I had never heard of Chris Eubank before and I’m glad I now know who he is. Very inspiring. I resonated with a lot of what he had to say especially these :

1. “People treat you the way you act'”
2. “It’s about BEING”
3. The quote about our deepest fear is one of my favourites as well. I should put it on my wall.
4. “Ignite it”

The spectacle of Eubank v’s Fry sounds like a car crash waiting to happen. Fry speaking over Eubank, nostrils flared and spouting academics it will become a contest on who can sound the most intellectual or be the biggest showman. Let Fry have is say on God, who really cares. Has Fry studied the Bible to the point of decoding it? Highly unlikely, otherwise we’d never hear the end of it. The Bible is a book of words. The Bible is a book of numbers. Fry focuses on the words and Einstein (being a mathematician) probably focused more on the… Read more »

Great man of sport, no doubt.

But defending your own beliefs with logical fallacies so big like “the queen believes in god, who are you?” or “Since fry said that the biblical god is stupid, he said that my mum that believes in him is stupid”, takes him out lots of points.

Even Einstein was a believer. It doesn’t add or subtract anything to the probability He’s nothing more than a more complex Santa Claus.

In a boxing match where the winner is the one with the best arguments, he would lose for KO immediately after the ring of the bell.
