I’ve rather quiet over the winter. Now we have some cold weather to highlight how good the weather has been lately, and that we’re really changing seasons, I thought it about time to come out of hibernation. And for my grand return, here’s a chart I just knocked up of Bitcoin price against the US Dollar, split in two and zoomed in on the bit between the two bubbles in 2013, comparing that with the gap between the Dec 2013 bubble and today… Take a look. It’s interesting to compare. I thought there would be more similarity, but even so,… Read more »

Have you ever considered Photography ? Or Vloging ? Since you like nature, I think other nature lover would like to see the spot where you go in nature. Or even better, a vlog about you working with the animals, etc.
For the weight I want to loose some too ! We could hold each other accountable :p.

Hi All,

2. To continue to improve my fitness and enter a mountain bike race by next June but cycle every week in the meantime, will put a video up. Perhaps I’ll find heart rate monitor for some trackable progress.
3). Continue with the brain work I’m doing, Hof breathing, daily meditation, affirmations and working improve my psychology.

Nice one Ady. How is the Accelerator going for you? And also, how do you find getting up at 5.30 to start your mental prep? What was your routine before this? I really struggle to wake before 6.30 – if I start with meditation, I fall back to sleep (even if sitting up), so I have to do something physical. It takes me a lot of discipline to get up when the clock says so. Cheers, Rob

i don’t know if rising early is an age thing or a state of mind. I’ve always been able to rise early but I also have to get to bed relatively early too, although this isn’t always the case. I believe it comes down to being healthy in ALL areas of ones life and really wanting to do it. Hope this helps. Tim

Hi Rob, I have struggled with getting up early in the past – the main things that are helping me pre-5-5.30am is in bed by 10.30pm, cold shower on rising and write the list of things you wish to do the next day the night before.

Be 5kg lighter by Dec 31st
Feel: euphoric when i run 10 km by Dec 31st
A lot of the how is the same for all three: be disciplined in daily schedule and just get it done. Wake up early, and use day efficiently, Don’t fall into time killers of web surfing or TV. Keep a positive attitude and celebrate the baby steps of acheivement in between

Hi Paul! Nice Video1 I will be cheering for you. I have started a new morning routine 17 days ago, to become more disiplined and maybe it can be of interest to you? This is how I do it, during my night meditation, just before i go to sleep I set my internal clock I focus on waking up at 6 oclock, rested and clear) ( I have a backup – alarm set to 6.10 just in case, but haven`t needed it yet!) Goal to sell 100,000 units of my Google Cardboard VR Headsets by the end of 2017.
Physical: To get through a full year of football without missing a game.
Feel: To get through my training without being constantly sore.. Age has something to do with that though.

Nice video Ken. Good luck with the business goal, VR is such an exciting space to be in right now!
Is that Aussie rules footy?
Have you tried cold showers/ice baths after exercise to aid recovery and decrease soreness?

kenlee_au

Yep, that is correct, AFL..

Cold showers do not do much where I live, it is quite hot generally so it is hard to get a cold shower unless it is the middle of winter. I have not really tried ice baths, I am watching Wim Hoff right now, perhaps he can teach me something about being brave enough to jump into something that has so much of a temperature difference to the outside air. 🙂

Ken, I think quite a few of us on here are of the same demographic: 40 somethings with an interest in keeping sporty, but a body that isn’t making it easy. Something I found useful was the two bags of frozen veg on the knees after rugby or running. Used to ignore all the fitness advice when I was younger but the idea of ice on inflamed muscles (RICE treatment) has been helpful.

kenlee_au

With you there, I use ice a fair bit as well as compression. I guess the main issue for me is just over -use, our seasons are 10 months long, we are starting pre-season now, the first game is not till March. Toward the end of the Season in August things like groin, knees, fingers, feet are all shot. But without a long pre-season particularly over 40 you can be prone to soft tissue injuries. So it is a a matter of just working through it. I must add though that I have just come off a couple of months… Read more »

Well done on the hill sprints, Rob, great way to get an intense workout in a very short time! How many did you do in the end? Brian makes sure never to walk down (always a jog) which keeps the heart rate up and makes it really challenging (I only kept pace for 5/10 last time I did it with him!)

rob allen

Thanks Julian – to be honest with you, I just added the hill sprint to the end of my run home. So I did it once or twice per day whilst I was there (I don’t live there). It definitely helped, as I was able to get my 5km down from 25:32 to 23:58 that weekend. My SMART goal for this is to run 5km in 22mins by 31 Dec. Are you still running with Brian and are you catching up?

Hello Realers – this isn’t quite on brief as I recorded these two videos about one of my fitness goals and how I tried Wim Hof Method to improve running performance. I’d appreciate any feedback, and will focus on developing some SMART objectives over the coming days. All the best, Rob

Hi Martin, Sorry for the delay in response. I am in the online retail market servicing B2B and B2C. One thing I was thinking of the other day. I hate paypal but it is an important part of our business when converting consumers particularly via a mobile phone. You see they do not have to type anything into the cart to complete the transaction, all they need to do is hit the paypal button and it then it populates the shipping address and completes the transaction. With one click!!!!! People hate typing on Moblie phones.. I was thinking, I cannot… Read more »

Do – Train using an EMS system

Thanks for sharing, Michael! I would suggest shortening the timeframe on the first goal to perhaps hitting 50% in 4 weeks as shorter term targets are often more successful. Also the third goal could be a little SMARTer, e.g. how often, for how long, what is the measurable outcome (maybe it ties in to goal #2)?

Michael Cordova

First goal is based on previous 6 months clients and the realistic projection on the current trajectory. In my area of business and where I am located it is a realistic goal, I would love to see it go up to 50% in 4 weeks. Every 2 weeks for goal number 3, it will tie in with goal number 2 definitely. 2 weeks regular training and 2 sessions of the EMS will help. I don’t have the funds or time to travel to London, I run a business 6 days a week and any money I make goes back into… Read more »

Sorry I have no comments instead 2 questions:
What’s your product about ? Are you a programmer?
Are you going to practice Brasilian Jiu Jitsu or the traditional japanise Jiu Jitsu? (I’m a judo practicer,
but I’m learning BJJ to increase my fighting skill on the ground)…

David Nienhaus

Hey Davide, thanks for your constructive questions. I will begin with the easy question. I am referring to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, specifically Gracie Jiu Jitsu and my purpose is also to increase my ground fighting skills. The skills i have learned so far are almost completely referring to stand-up martial art. So I am pretty uncomfortable in ground fighting and i want to work on my “blind spots”. The second is actually harder to answer. But maybe thats why Miroslav Miguel Jindra also asked about this one. Because its so airy. I have the idea of offering information products. My… Read more »

BJJ, good choice ! I’m following the Gracie’s lessons on internet and try to apply with my brother at noon once a week (we are both Judo practicers so it’s easyer to apply a lesson on a video) I’d like to share with you this video, he is Joicko Willink, guest of London Real… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGpDVCkhtD4 For the second point I wanna suggest something (maybe it’s usless, but you’ll never know…). If you are a psychology student (or have a degree) and a martial arts practicer it would be interesting to link both: something like: “defend yourself with words” to manage… Read more »

Great idea, i thought about something like that when i watched the episode of Geoff Thompson at London Real. He talked about posturing and pre-fight, post-fight challenges. But you are right. It could go a bit deeper if i incorporate more of my knowledge in psychology.
I did also train a few of the online lessons of the Gracies with a fellow martial artist. For how long have you been training with the online lessons? What are your experiences? Do you think you can effectively learn the more advanced skills via online training?

Thanks for the advice!

DavideLarry

I practice BJJ with my brother once a week, (we have the space to di it in my company) we both have a judo background (15 years of experience) so in some way we already know what they are talking about 1) we watch one single lesson 2) we try it in practice 3) we watch it again to check if we’ve done it right Even if in judo we learnt how to fight on the ground, we lack a “system” and that’s exaclty what grecie’s lessons provide. The other valuable part is how to “close the distance” from a… Read more »

I think you could divide your practice in two areas and do for example one form of martial art once a week and another one also once a week. In that way it doesn’t take so much time and as they are kind of related, you will be working in a similar direction in both of them. I think in general it’s oke to have a longer time-frame, just be careful it you don’t forget about it. Could you tell us more about your first product, be a bit more specific? And also, until now, you haven’t thought of the… Read more »

Hey Miroslav, the idea of different weeks sounds good but is not suited for me, because I am already teaching Wing Chun. So i can´t just step out of this training for a full week without disturbing the flow of my martial arts school. Instead I was thinking about trying BJJ and if I like it get into it once a week, while still training Wing Chun and Liu He Ba Fa the rest of the week. The point of “not forgetting about the goal with the long timeframe” is an important one. Thanks for that. My idea to change… Read more »

Hello everyone,

BEy – Finish the last 5 weeks of the Wim Hof Method
Work on my deep squat and be able to stay in that position for minimum 2 minutes by November 13

Hi there,

The language schools are my potential employers, I would like to work as an English teacher at least for a few hours every week. And I guess you are right with the TO DO LIST, I will look into that technique more.

Hey Miroslav, are you former students language students? What is the englisch football camp about? Is it some kind of language-sports-learning hybrid for kids? Great, that you are practicing the Wim Hof Method. If you are pushing through that one since 5 weeks (as it is 10 weeks total i think?), you should be getting to your 2 Minute squat easily. The squat is all about consistency. Jump down whenever you have a few seconds. I have been working on that a lot last year. I also like your idea of trying tantra with your girlfriend. Take the ones you… Read more »

Hi, yes, I used to teach English to a few people, but I stopped when I moved abroad and I never got back to it, The football camp is a bit more complicated to explain, but in short, it’s a camp for kids of around 12 years of age where they will mostly play football, do various drills, and in this case also study English. Also there will be kids from several countries so they will be forced to speak English with each other (some basic language skills are required). Allright Miguel then;)
the football camp sounds like a great way to bring different cultures together and make learning english fun for the kids.
My progress with the squat came actually pretty quickly because i was using the squat whenever i could to stretch my back. I was using little dosages of squatting a few times a day and making small movements while i am down. I thinks thats also a big bulletpoint of getting it. To use the new formed mobility in some way, through moving while you are in the position. Now its easy to stay down for several minutes.

Hey Davide, I like your video, especially the end when you say you are going to use the opportunities to practice bargaining STARTING TOMORROW. As it’s been already three days since you posted the video, I hope you really started. I think it’s a good idea and it could help you get more confidence. Thanks Miroslav Miguel for your useful comment. Yes I did a negotiation 2 days ago while I was buying the solar panel for the roof of my business bilding! I don’t have any experience with this so all I can think of is talking to people at events in your field (something like EXPO???) or trying to use the word of mouth, maybe try to have some friendly talk with your current/former customers and “convince” them to spread the word to other people in the field. Last idea is to talk to a person in a company that might be more open to discussion than the technician himself and work in this direction.

DavideLarry

Reading your comment an idea came to my mind (what a beautiful tribe is this!) I need a product to “enter” a laboratory, maybe not me, just a seller for the first time and then try to approch for bigger project… I have to work it out and think about it better, but that’s a way… Thanks

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your comment,
first question… I own a small company in the industrial automation field, we design
