show yourself, make you vulnerable until your self esteem let you to see the critics just as opportunities to get better.

DARE WEEK… I want to overcome my fear: rejection !

Miroslav Miguel Jindra

Hey Davide, fear of rejection is a tough one, but overcoming it is going to make a big difference and, I believe, empower you in a way. I don’t know if I can help you, but I will try to motivate you by saying that every rejection is a part of “acceptance” (don’t know the right word). It’s a necessary step on the journey to success and to improving yourself. And one suggestion: could you think and choose a reasonable number of potential clients to contact and also a date by which you are going to do that. I think… Read more »

Hey Dan, thanks very much for the video and your interest! πŸ™‚

I made it happen that day by doing it and not thinking about it too much. It starts by simply beginning! To my surprise it was more about listening with my heart, then it was about speaking. As Stephen Covey says, “first seek to understand, then to be understood.”

Making retreat impossible I couldn’t agree more. I’ve never been a fan of ‘plan b’.

Thank you Dan.

Thanks Dan. I feel like situations are always easier to deal with in actual, then think about them prior in imaginary. So it’s a relief to get on with things rather than suffering from paralysis by analysis. And yes πŸ™‚ Thanks Dan!

hi Zoe! It was really about identifying my passion. I have many interests in life and self-growth is a given, but it is nothing that could be described as a passion. So, after so many “spams” from Brian, I got curious when he introduced the 4 week cycle. I thought, why not try something new. Maybe other people’s feedback would help me see differently. I was also surprised by how many people already had a passion and maybe just needed to find that momentum to go after it.
I enjoyed your interview by the way:)

Hello Bryant,
My wife and I watched your video and we want to support you. The truth is we both struggle with fear of rejection. It can be so hard sometimes to put yourself out there. Zoe E Fox

Hey Bryant, congratulations on putting yourself in a position a vulnerability. Stepping out of your comfort zone isn’t easy but the academy had shown me that when you do wonderful things can happen. I have realised that the challenges that bring up the most fear/resistance with in me are usually the ones that have the potential to create the most positive growth. The minute you push forward and rationalise your fears and begin to think ‘what is really the worst that can happen’ you often come to realise that the very worst things that you imagine seldom come to reality… Read more »

If I didn’t know better I would argue that it is not such a DARE because the whole point of writing would be to show it. But that is actually an EXTREMELY vulnerable time especially with the people who are the closest to us.

Zoe E Fox

Hey Anthony, it does indeed put you in a vulnerable position when you begin to share something that you have written/created as it’s so personal it but it’s also very empowering when you get positive feedback. Good luck πŸ™‚

Mitch I can so relate to what you are saying and I want to congratulate you on pushing yourself to do the things that make uncomfortable.

Pete

Mitch I’m sorry but I was judging….

I thought, “That looks awesome fun πŸ™‚ I really want to have a go!”

I wonder how many other people you might inspire to move on the rings because they see you??!

When I’ve exercised in the past, in public, and felt self conscious I’ve reminded myself that I’m doing something fun and just breathe and let any excess muscle tensions go….

Please keep us posted on your journey with rings?
I’d really like to see how your progress! P.s Loving the static holds I think they’re gold in disguise πŸ™‚

Today I will compete for the first time at an weightlifting meet as an individual. The pressure is on as I start in the strong -85kg class! Going to crush that fear today and set a new PR.

So cool Dominic how did it go? BTW can you post the YouTube video link above I can’t see it!

Hi Brain, here’s the link, hope it works this time:

http://youtu.be/v26YR8Nqybk

The meet had a bad start, I failed at my snatch attempts, but managed to get that PR in the C&J w/ 102kg (goal was 100). So at least I gained a lot of experience for my next meet.

Well broke through my resistance and the reality was better than expected! Taking action earlier in the morning was actually therapeutic! Did give up my getting up one hour early to meditate and get centered though so have to work on better planning!

Sometimes we get stagnant inside our own heads just being at the computer. I have to train myself to get out. Just having to go down the street to the beach is a huge challenge but once I get there it’s AMAZING and a proper break for mind and breath without even meditating.

Today’s WOD was very shoulder focused, and i have quite terrible form with weights (being more used to calisthenics). But i think i did OK… and i managed to do three strict bar muscle ups too :). And i got my paperwork ready for getting a full membership too πŸ™‚

@zoe: I didn’t have time to do any preparation to make awesome videos like you did with your second day either.

Charlotte, this might cost a pretty penny but it may be worth it. My wife and I have a personal trainer serving as an “accountability buddy.” He leads us through weight training for one hour and sees to it that we do cardio and more weights on other days of the week. Sometimes it just helps to have someone with you to guide you and keep you interested by introducing new exercises and cheering you on to go the extra mile.

I’m figuring out my dare. This year is about pushing myself by getting out of my comfort zone. Today’s vlog will be my 50th! Time flies by. By taking singing lessons and improving my vocal range and confidence, this has helped me a lot.
I’ll get back to you soon! Xx

Here’s my dare this week to get me out of my comfort zone a bit by starting a conversation with a stranger

Zoe E Fox

Great video Anthony. Go for it, you may be pleasantly surprised. Durning my time working in the city I spent many of my lunch breaks causally chatting with homeless people of the city of London (much to the disgust of many of my city colleagues), I felt more comfortable talking to them then I did other workers. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most incredibly beautiful souls with the most fascinating stories. To break yourself in to your dare you could try striking up a conversation with your local Big Issue seller. Can’t wait to hear how… Read more »

Easy way to start a conversation with a someone walking a dog. It’s crazy how much more I talk to my neighbours since I got a dog and even when I’m not walking my dog, it’s easy to approach people who have dogs…. well if you like dogs of courses πŸ˜‰

On the call, Brian pointed out that the “if you build it they will come” mentality doesn’t work like it used to these days so my next step is sound marketing and PR.

Have you thought about creating content for social media to start setting yourself up as a key person of influence in your field, talking / writing on topics related to your book and key audience? Also FB advertising is great as you can really focus in getting your adverts in front of your target market.

Do you have a website?

well at comfort zone crusher we have a challenge to do just that :). Usually it’s just do some pushups, but if you feel that is a bit bold, ease into it, you can maybe try skipping rope? Just go down to the park and skip a little bit of rope. i think it’s a bit more out there like than just your average run in the park. Then after skipping a little bit and getting warmed up just do a bit of squats. No one will give you a second look. I got over my anxiety about exercising in… Read more »

Michael, you are awesome, thank you so much for your suggestion and encouragement. I used to love skipping back in the day, I tried it a couple years back and realised how much energy it took, I took that for granted as a kid. I’m gonna go and get myself a skipping rope tomorrow.

You’re right, so what if people look at me. I’m living my life for me not for some random stranger walking through the park πŸ™‚

Great idea with the public exercise Zoe! How about some outdoor yoga? That could be a good one if you’re worried about people looking at you, as it can be very calming, so could ease any anxiety. My girlfriend does this in a park outside our home using an app on her phone and seems to love it even though there are people going by. Skipping sounds like a cool one too – good suggestion Michael!

Hey Anthony, I recently started going to a yoga class as it goes and I did throw in 1 or two yoga poses for good measure too, funny I felt more of anxious doing yoga then I did skipping πŸ™‚

I’m from Malta originally, thanks for the compliment (despite the fact dislike the way my voice sounds in recordings). Too low and soft. Not to mention the fact that i don’t usually sound so hesitant, i guess it’s still my nerves. Let’s just use the “i’ve been speaking for the last couple of hours and my throat hurts excuse. OK my DARE challenge to myself this week is to ASK FOR HELP! One of my biggest fears is asking others to help me so this week I’m reaching out to 3 former London Real guests and asking to be THEIR guest on their show. It might not seem big but I HATE TO ASK FOR HELP, and it usually ends up hurting me. What is your DARE this week?

i have the same issue with asking for directions… i just hate asking for directions to anywhere πŸ™‚

Luchia Dragosh

This is a big one. I am working on overcoming the fear of asking for help as well. I always think that if I ask for favors then I might not be able to reciprocate and they will think I am using them. So I think for me is a mindset adjustment and digging to see where those beliefs came from. I like this challenge!!!

Zoe E Fox

Asking people for things is a big issue for me too, my gosh. Chasing clients for money due is something that I’m doing currently that is helping me to overcome this to a degree.

Good luck for yours Brian, I’m looking forward to hearing details of when and where we can hear you on those podcasts πŸ™‚

I don’t like asking either. So my challenge this week was to actually ask for advice about the business of art to a friend’s referral. She put us in contact and I actually sent him a message. No reply yet but I also reached out to another artist acquaintance and went for coffee to discuss the business of art yesterday, Turn out great. It’s very promising. I learned a lot and if everything goes well, it might lead to great collaboration opportunities in the near future. πŸ™‚
